Step 1: Downloading the SDK Base
To run TF2 Classic, you must have Source SDK Base 2013 Multiplayer installed.
Download Source SDK BaseNote: You can also enter your Steam library and search for "Source SDK Base 2013 Multiplayer", installing it once it appears.
IMPORTANT: Valve has updated the SDK Base. To continue playing TF2 Classic, you will need to right-click Source SDK Base 2013 Multiplayer, select Properties, and switch the selected Beta to previous2021.
Step 2: Installing TF2 Classic
To download and install the game, you can use TF2CDownloader, which is free and open-source.
Download for WindowsOn Windows, you may have to bypass an untrusted app warning.
Note: You may also download a ZIP archive of the game for manual installation.
Step 3: Restarting Steam
When the downloader finishes installing the game, you must exit Steam and then reopen it.
Congratulations! Team Fortress 2 Classic should now be in your Steam library, ready to play!
